The best fit for a verification team is the system that preserves a defensible evidence chain through failures and retests. Product breadth matters less than knowing which requirement revision, method, procedure, test article and result a closure claim refers to. This is Arc's buyer guidance, not a universal product ranking.
What is planned and what is proven?
A verification matrix can identify coverage, while a verification control document may define methods and responsibilities. The accepted result needs its own procedure, configuration, execution and evidence. ECSS verification guidance may govern a space contract, but the programme must interpret its applicable requirements; using a particular tool or template does not establish compliance.
How does the tool handle a failed test?
Take a synthetic deployment-mechanism release-time requirement. Record a test that fails, an anomaly, a hardware change and a retest that passes. Ask each option whether the old result remains visible, whether the test article revision is explicit, and whether a changed requirement reopens the verification decision. If the tool only shows a current green status, it has lost essential context.
Which hardware and retest decision apply?
In a separate fictional vibration example, a bracket fails a frequency criterion. Preserve the failed run and its raw result, link the anomaly and revised drawing, and record the passing retest against the changed test-article configuration. The reviewer needs the requirement revision, method, procedure revision, execution date, hardware configuration, result, evidence provenance and acceptance authority for each run. A later pass must not overwrite the failure or make it apply retrospectively to another article.
NASA's product-verification guidance provides the engineering context. An RTM is a traceability view; a VCD plans verification methods and responsibilities; accepted execution evidence supports closure. Inspect the customer deliverable separately, and use the configuration-aware verification ledger for a worked evidence structure.
Which tool fits our existing workflow?
Jama Connect, Polarion and Codebeamer deserve consideration where their test-management workflows are already deployed. Arc supports verification planning, execution, results and evidence connected to requirements and configurations. A specialised test-execution system may remain the authority for raw measurements; name the link and transfer rule.
The Arc and ECLIPSE Suite comparison follows a supplier change through requirements, review and verification, distinguishing RVM from the wider modules.
How do we assess the evidence handover?
Have a test engineer enter the failure, a design owner propose a fix and an authorised reviewer accept the closure. Count manual copies into reports, missing applicability data and ambiguous ownership. Export one customer-facing evidence package and check that each claim can be traced to its source result.
Frequently asked questions
Is an RTM the same as verification evidence?
No. It is a traceability view; closure requires applicable execution results, evidence and acceptance.
What is the best test for a verification tool?
A failed test followed by a change and retest, with both configurations and decisions preserved.
Does Arc replace a laboratory test system?
Not necessarily. Raw measurements may remain in a specialist authority while Arc connects plans, results and evidence to requirements.
Connect your verification decision in Arc
Arc connects requirements to verification activities, results and evidence, records review decisions and maintains applicability against the relevant configuration.
